Coming swiftly on the heels of their annual awards ceremony, Sandy Lane
resort’s management and staff have yet another reason to make merry.
This time they are celebrating AAA Five Diamond status for 2006.
The AAA award is the most prestigious and recognised
rating classification in the world and Five Diamond is the highest a hotel
can achieve.
Each year a mystery inspection is conducted, with ratings on overall facilities,
service in the hotel and staff response to guests’ needs, among
other requirements. At the end, the inspector informs the hotel management
of their triumph for the following year.
Next year will be the fourth consecutive year the luxury resort would
have won this impressive honour.
General manager of the hotel, Colm Hannon, said: “This is very special
for us and for the owners because we are one of only three Five Diamond
hotels in the Caribbean and one of 160 in the world. So this is a huge
accomplishment for us.”
To commemorate achieving this award, the West Coast hotel will be hosting
a staff family fun day at the Bayshore Complex today, National Heroes
Day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This event is management’s way of applauding
the staff for their hard work and dedication to the hotel.
