BARBADOS - RBTT Bank Golf Classicgolf 2008

Date November 29, 2007

SCOTT FOSTER is the new men's champion in the RBTT Bank Golf Classic.

The national representative shot three under par over the two-day weekend competition at the Barbados Golf Club course.

This was 12 shots better than fellow Hoerman Cup player Carlsen Leacock who was second.

Judd Cozier, another Barbados player, was third.

Foster enjoyed his best day on Saturday when he shot 69, and followed up with level par or 72 on Sunday.

"It just came together," said Foster, "I played well. Putting was the strongest part of my game."

It was the first major win for the 34-year-old Foster who has been a member of the Hoerman Cup team for two consecutive years.

He acknowledged that he had been averaging just one round of golf weekly and suggested that course familiarity would have played some part in the victory.

Marketing manager of RBTT Bank Frank Drakes, said he was thrilled to see the support for the tournament and thanked the players for their participation. Close to 100 golfers took part

Mary Ince won the women's championship flight with 170 over the two days, two better than last year's winner Helen Foster.

Robert Beckles won the Men's First Flight with 163, edging out Malcolm Atkins by four strokes and earning a call for a substantial handicap cut. Adrian Mayers was third.

Ricky Skeete, the reigning Caribbean senior champion with Robert Piggott, won his category handsomely. He shot 147 while the second place went to Ray Marshall.

Byron Gibson won the Stableford event for men with a tally of 75 points, winning on the countback from Livy Webster. In a very competitive flight, Raymond McKenzie was third two points adrift.

Brenda Phillips (65 points) was the women's Stableford winner, and Simon Proverbs the top junior.

The competition in the men's Nett categories was also extremely competitive.

Stephen Layne edged out Igna Smart on the countback for the prize in the championship flight with 148, while a disappointed Glyne Skeete was third with 149.
